On this week’s Meet Cortland County segment:
Paul Heider (LD-16), chairman of the Cortland County legislature.
He discussed several items including the current process of best to spend the county’s $9M share of American Rescue Plan funds. Heider said about half the money has come in thus far.
Legislators agreed to invest $2M in economic development. Up to a million was set aside to provide one-time grants for community organizations in need.
Some additional ARP money went towards county road work ($600k); an investment in Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex ($500K); and replenishment of lost revenues.
Heider also spoke about redistricting, as well as the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and progress with local recovery efforts.
